Countryside Homes, part of the Vistry Group, has launched a new construction skills academy at The Fairways at Brackley Village, as development work continues on site and a new community comes to life.

In collaboration with local education and training providers, The Brackley Skills Academy will support local people of all ages who are not currently in education, employment, training – or are considering a career change. A key focus of the academy will be supporting young people who missed out on a period of classroom education during the Pandemic.

The new academy has been built on the Countryside Homes development, The Fairways, which offers 207 much-needed, high-quality, energy-efficient homes, and forms part of a long-term commitment to the growing community.

With the first residents settled in, the development, which sits between Manchester and Bolton, is fast taking shape and the academy will create a space to bring the new and existing community together.

The official launch of the academy saw attendance from local dignitaries and representatives of the involved training and education organisations including the Salford Skills and Work Board, ionic Community Connections and Frameworks Social Enterprise CIC.

Speaking at the official opening, Cllr Tanya Burch, Ceremonial Mayor, Salford City Council, said:

“The Brackley Skills Academy is a fantastic initiative that reflects the strong partnership between local education providers and the construction industry here in Salford. This academy opens doors to exciting career opportunities, ensuring that people of all ages in our city can gain the skills and confidence they need to build a brighter future for themselves and Salford.”

Joe Turner, Managing Director, Vistry Manchester and Cheshire East, said: “Across our developments in Greater Manchester we recognise the importance of supporting local communities that surround our developments. The Brackley Skills Academy will play a vital role in inspiring local people to consider a career in construction, opening the door to incredibly rewarding career opportunities and helping to alleviate the talent shortage facing the construction sector. We are grateful to our partners in this initiative and I look forward to hearing about some of the success stories soon to come out of the academy.”

The academy is part of the Vistry Plus Skills Academy Initiative, the training programme designed to encourage more people to enter the construction industry to combat the ongoing skills shortage affecting the sector.

Countryside Homes currently has a range of three and four-bed properties available at The Fairways at Brackley Village with prices starting at £309,995. Those who reserve their new home soon will benefit from £10,000 to spend however they wish, plus if you complete before 31st March you could save thousands on stamp duty.
