Manchester’s New Indoor Arena has cancelled their opening concert again just minutes before the doors to the Arena were due to open to the public

In a message on X they posted:

“Due to a venue-related technical issue, tonight’s A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie show will no longer go ahead. We kindly ask fans to leave the area. Tickets holders will receive further information in due course.” adding

“We deeply apologise for the significant inconvenience this will cause for many.“

The event was supposed to be the first to test the capacity of the venue after shows last week including Peter Kay were cancelled after safety systems were not in place with problems getting power to the venue

It is understood that the problems tonight were caused by a piece of an air conditioning unit falling from the ceiling

Boogie said in a statement:

“Something happened with the venue while I was at soundcheck today that caused cancellation of the show. We are working on rescheduling in the next few days I’m heated about the situation too but safety first Manchester I got you just stay tuned for further info.”

The venue has also announced that this weekend’s scheduled performances of Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS World Tour on 3rd and 4th May are being postponed.

Rodrigo told fans she was “sooooo disappointed” not to perform her shows.

“I’m so bummed and I really hope to see you all soon,” she wrote on Instagram, saying she and her team were “doing our best” to reschedule the concerts.

Meanwhile the Co-op Group issued the following statement

“As the naming rights sponsor for Co-op Live, we are very disappointed in the delayed opening of the venue and fully recognise the disruption and inconvenience this has caused to affected ticket holders, many of whom are our Co-op Members.“
