Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office has said that the agreement had taken effect on Sunday morning after a brief delay, as Hamas named the first three hostages to be released

The ceasefire will bring to an end 15 months of almost unbroken fighting following the Israeli attack after Hamas’ terror attack on the 7th October 2023

The ceasefire was delayed by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu until Hamas released the names of the Israeli captives who will be freed in the first phase of the truce deal.

The Palestinian group said technical reasons are behind the delay.

At least 19 Palestinians were killed and 36 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza, during the truce delay until 09:30 GMT, according to Mahmoud Basal, the spokesperson for Gaza’s Civil Defence

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office says the release of three captives held in Gaza will take place after 14:00 GMT.
