Waterside Open is an exciting opportunity for artists to exhibit artwork and win cash prizes at the same time. Established and emerging artists and makers across the region and the UK are invited to submit work in the form of contemporary art and craft using a diverse range of art forms including 2D and 3D visual arts, textiles, crafts, furniture, photography, print, installation, sculpture and digital media.

Any artist from across the UK can submit up to three pieces of work. Artworks should be submitted between Friday 11 and Sunday 13 March (certain times apply), to be assessed by a panel of judges who will choose a large selection to be displayed in Waterside Arts Centre’s gallery spaces.

The winner will be announced at a special preview event on Friday 1 April at Waterside Arts Centre, where additional prizes will also be awarded including recent graduate, best art piece by a Trafford artist and the Visitors’ Choice Award. There will also be a group exhibition for the 2016 winners at Waterside Arts Centre in 2017.

Previous Waterside Open prize winner Steve Talbot said “From experience of both visiting and exhibiting widely, I truly believe that the Waterside Open is among the best around – not just locally, but nationally. To be a prize winner and to be in such great company is always so encouraging as the exhibition is always such a high quality showcase for some very talented people.”

Selectors on the judging panel include Stella Corrall (Artist and Creative Director of Lucentia), Kwong Lee (Director of Castlefield Gallery), and Jane Dzisiewski (Jewellery Designer Maker & Social Media Consultant).

Stella Corrall said “I am delighted to be part of the panel for the biennial Open at Waterside. I have always been impressed with the excellent standard of artwork it brings from across the North West and UK, the exhibition also provides a fantastic opportunity for emerging artists to present their work.”

To enter the Open 2016 artists should visit Waterside Arts Centre’s website to download an entry form (watersideartscentre.co.uk) or visit the Centre to pick one up in person.
