Eddie Ratcliffe’s attempt to reduce the sentence he was given for his role in the murder of Brianna Ghey has been rejected
His legal team argued that the sentencing judge did not take into account the ‘immaturity’ of the then fifteen year old teenager.
Eddie Ratcliffe was detained for life with a minimum term of 20 years for the murder, along with co-defendant Scarlett Jenkinson, who received a minimum term of 22 years.
The Crown Prosecution Service opposed the appeal bid, arguing the sentence was “appropriate” and was not “manifestly excessive”.
In a ruling on Thursday, three senior judges dismissed the bid, ruling that arguments made for reducing Ratcliffe’s sentence were “based on a false premise”.
