Supermarket chain Aldi is to create 2,000 new jobs next year in addition to 7,000 created in the last two years, as part of a £1.3 billion investment drive announced this morning
The announcement came as the chain revealed its annual results which saw sales rise by 10% last year but said its profits fell by 2.5% after the cost of keeping prices low and responding to the pandemic ate into its bottom line.
Giles Hurley, chief executive for Aldi UK and Ireland, said the supermarket had experienced “some of the most difficult conditions our sector has ever seen” over the year.
