United Utilities has announced plans to improve water quality in the Micker Brook which runs through Bramhall in Stockport.
United are going to be investing more than £5.9m on two schemes that will improve the combined storm overflow (CSO) systems at Briarlands Close and Lumb Lane. The essential work will ultimately safeguard the environment, by reducing the number of times that the overflows operate into the Micker Brook.
The work is set to start in Spring 2025 and will take up to 12 months to complete.
As a result of the work, Bramhall Precinct car park, will be closed for the duration of the works. Signage will be in place to alternative parking at Meadway.
United Utilities is encouraging eligible shoppers in the area apply for the Blue Badge Scheme operated by Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council. Details of eligibility and how to apply for the scheme can be found here – Blue Badges – Stockport Council
Residents and businesses are being invited to find out more about both schemes at their second drop-in event on Thursday 16 January 2025 at Nook & Broom, 9-11 Bramhall Lane South, Bramhall, Stockport SK7 1AL between 4pm and 7pm.
