A 36 year old man remains in a serious condition after a hit and run on Deansgate in the early hours of this morning.
The man suffered serious head injuries after being hit by a dark coloured car that fled the scene.
The man was carried on the bonnet of the car for a short distance before being thrown from the moving vehicle.
An investigation has been launched and police are appealing for information.
A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody for questioning.
Detective Sergeant Phil Marsh, of GMP’s City of Manchester team, said: “This is a shocking incident which has left a man in a serious condition in hospital.
“We have one man in custody but our investigation continues. This happened on a busy road when people may have been around and witnessed something.
“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a dark coloured car leaving the area or anyone who has dashcam footage of this incident.”
