A 23 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear and possession of a bladed article
The suspect arrived armed with a knife and discharged a shot towards a motorbike outside of a property on Maxwell Street before fleeing the scene.
The scene at Maxwell Street has been stood down, and a scene now commenced on Mossfield Close. The suspect remains in our custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Victoria Kenyon of the Bury district said; “We swiftly arrested a man yesterday following reports of shots fired. I’m pleased to say no-one was injured during the incident.
“Incidents of this nature are extremely rare in Bury but I know cause significant community concern, particularly as this took place in daylight hours in a public street. I would like to provide some reassurance that it is believed that those involved are known to one another, and there is no wider risk to the public.
“Those living around Mossfield Close can expect to see a large multi-agency presence throughout today whilst we continue our enquiries. Again, I would like to reassure residents that there is no risk to them, however, if you have any concerns, you can speak to officers at the scene.
“Whilst we have spoken with a number of people in the area already, we would continue to appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident, has door bell, CCTV or dash cam footage, to please get in touch.”
