Qantas is preparing to make aviation history in 2027 with the launch of the world’s longest nonstop passenger flight—from London to Sydney. The 22-hour journey will span over 10,500 miles under the airline’s long-anticipated “Project Sunrise.”
The flight will be operated by new Airbus A350-1000s featuring fewer seats, luxury first-class suites, and onboard wellness zones to counteract ultra-long-haul fatigue. Qantas has ordered 12 of the jets, with the first expected to arrive by late 2026.
“Direct flights like this will reshape global travel,” said Qantas CEO Alan Joyce. Originally planned for 2025, the project was delayed due to COVID and aircraft production setbacks.
