This year, ‘The Big Stockport Christmas Experience’ is being brought to you in a partnership between Stockport Council, Merseyway and Totally Stockport.
Celebrations will kick off with Merseyway’s Christmas Lights Switch On event on Wednesday 15th November from 3 pm, with some fantastic live entertainment – including performances from Lucy Spraggan, S Club and Amelia Lily – to get us into the Christmas spirit. The whole of Stockport will be lit up for Christmas at 7 pm.
The Council will be providing FREE parking from 3 pm at Council-owned car parks.*
An exciting new lighting trail will also be shining brightly across Stockport as Christmas gets animated!
Watch Santa unwrap Christmas in Merseyway, follow his sleigh across the town’s rooftops and peep behind the doors of a huge advent calendar.
A lighting extravaganza will shine across the Produce Hall in the Market Place and snowflakes will be dancing across Stockport Exchange, St Peter’s Square and Redrock.
Many stores in the town centre will be open until late evening – view the full schedule.
There are many festive activities happening not only in the town centre but also across district centres as well. Stay tuned for magical displays, carol singing, Christmas lights switched on, gift fairs and much more! For all the latest events visit our ‘What’s On’ guide.
Councillor Kate Butler, Stockport Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration, said: “This Christmas will be a very special one. There are so many events and activities happening in the town centre and lots more happening across the borough in the run-up to Christmas for people of all ages to enjoy.
“I hope that everyone can soak up the fantastic atmosphere by shopping in Stockport, supporting our local businesses, and taking advantage of everything that will be happening in the borough during this festive season.”
