Spinningfields

Spinningfields took its name from a street that ran from Deansgate. 1968 saw the area turned into Spinningfields Square which was an open paved area. Also in 1968, behind the Northcliffe House, additional offices were built for Manchester Evening News and in 1970 the MEN commissioned a sculpture for their new site.

The proposal to create a central business district originated when Allied London purchased a number of buildings around the John Rylands Library in 1997. Allied London CEO Michael Ingall was the driving force behind the site’s regeneration and what you see today.

The XYZ Building close to Left Bank was completed in 2016 and is a new and radical benchmark for cutting edge working culture. Featuring XYZ Work and XYZ Social, the XYZ building is a thriving social and co-working hub.

Today Spinningfields is home to some of the best restaurants in the city with influences and flavours from all around the world. Around the area, there are also some high-quality hospitality locations that will make your stay special.
