Manchester’s Town Hall’s Great Hall will be filled with Yule tide spirit as the Lord Mayor of Manchester Councillor Sue Cooley invites visitors to share some Christmas cheer with a selection of traditional Christmas carols and hymns at the annual carol concert.

The concert is free of charge and a wonderful way to begin the Christmas season.

This year, The Very Reverend Rogers Govender. Dean of Manchester, will introduce the items following the Lord Mayor’s Christmas Message. Carols will be performed by the Manchester Cathedral Voluntary Choir and Saint John Fisher and Saint Thomas More RC Primary School Choir from Benchill. They will be accompanied by the Blackley Brass Band.

Lord Mayor of Manchester Councilor Sue Cooley said: “The Christmas Carol concert has become a highlight of the city’s festive calendar.

“It’s the prefect way for us all to come together and celebrate while remembering the true meaning of Christmas away from the hustle bustle of everyday life.

“As the cold winter nights begin to set in the beautifully performed carols and hymns are sure to lift the spirits – so I’d like to invite everyone to join my in the Great Hall for a wonderful yuletide celebration.”

After carols such as Hark! The Herald-Angels Sing and We Three Kings and hymns including Come All Ye Faithful and While Shepherds Watch’d Their Flocks by Night , festivities will be concluded with tea, coffee and of course mince pies.

The Lord Mayor’s Carol Concert takes place Thursday 4 December 7pm until 8pm in the Great Hall at Manchester Town Hall. Everybody is welcome and entry is free.
