Three years after it first unveiled its modular house, Town House, at New Islington in Manchester, award winning regeneration company Urban Splash has revealed its newest product in the House by Urban Splash range – Mansion House.

Mansion House is a medium-rise apartment block comprising six to ten apartments that share a front door; by keeping the buildings on a human scale,

Urban Splash hopes they will encourage neighbourly living amongst home owners who can share and occupy their communal spaces such as lobbies, stairwells and landings.

These modular apartments are fabricated with cross laminated timber (CLT) in a factory in Bilbao, Northern Spain, close to the forest where the natural Radiata Pine that forms the walls and ceilings is grown,

The one and two bedroom homes come with a number of brilliant design features; a dual aspect – windows on each side of the properties – means that every buyer at New Islington will get views of the Marina, it’s possible to cross ventilate the apartment while the sustainably sourced cross-laminated timber provides warmth and a wow factor.

Used for the main structure and the interior finish, the timber not only brings a unique aesthetic, but also environmental benefits thanks to its insulation performance – retaining heat in winter and letting the building breathe in the summer.

Mansion House will be launched at New Islington in Manchester this summer, before then being rolled out on other Urban Splash schemes.

Guy Ackernley, residential sales director at Urban Splash explained: “Just as we did when we first introduced our modular Town Houses in 2016, we intend to challenge the design norm with Mansion House – raising the design bar and giving customers the choice of something new

“That is evident in every detail of Mansion House homes; from the materials, to the layout, to the resulting aesthetic. It is a product which also perfectly complements what’s already on offer at New Islington, whilst broadening the choice for buyers in what elsewhere is largely limited, to somewhat identikit, mass market single aspect small flats.”

The first Mansion House apartments will launch for sale early in the summer, just a handful of homes available to buy in the Manchester market. Guy continued: “There’s a shortage of homes available to purchase in the central Manchester market; Mansion House brings that offer back to buyers who want to establish themselves in the city in a more permanent home.”
