Victoria Baths is hosting a ten-day celebration exploring the power of physical movement, including the phenomenon of Northern Soul, with an explosive line-up of video installations, dance and live art performances.

It opens on the 24th April with a performance lecture by historian Dominique Tessier who will talk about how Manchester’s cultural lineage can be traced in unexpected ways and explores the influences of Latin and black American music and culture in Manchester.

It culminates with a Northern Soul allnighter on the 3rd May when the venue welcomes Northern Soul lovers from across the North West are invited to dance all night to the tune of top DJs from the Twisted Wheel, Blackpool Mecca and Wigan Young Souls.

Up to 400 people are expected to take to the country’s highest sprung dance floor set over the ‘Males 2nd Class’ pool. Artist William Titley will be displaying Northern Soul memorabilia from his growing collection and there will be a special performance by band The SoulTrain, featuring ex-Simply Red drummer Chris Joyce.
