A twenty four year old man was attacked by a machete wielding trio as he parked on a street in Droylsden late on Sunday night

The incident happened on Lyme Grove just before midnight, the man had driven to Lyme Grove and as he parked on the street, was attacked by three men armed with knives/machetes.

He managed to escape and ran into a property where he raised the alarm and was taken to hospital where he is currently being treated for several wounds and two skull fractures.

The offenders, who all wore balaclavas, fled in the direction of Beech Avenue.

A cordon is currently in place while investigation work is carried out.

Detective Constable Jo Lockett, of GMP’s Tameside division, said: “It is appalling that a man was attacked and left in hospital at the hands of these men.

“I want to assure people that we are treating this as an isolated incident and don’t believe there to be any wider threat to the community.

“Our investigation into this incident remains ongoing and we are currently following several lines of enquiry but would urge anyone with any information to please get in touch.”
