Merseyway Shopping Centre is inviting families to enjoy a host of free activities in a huge dinosaur takeover across Stockport.

On Saturday 9th June from 11am – 4pm, visitors are invited to follow the life-size dinosaur footprints through the centre and to take part in a host of workshops and activities for every dino fan to enjoy.

Open to children of all ages, families can take part in interactive shows and performances with enormous, animatronic dinosaurs, create their very own mini dinosaur park in dedicated workshops and take part in a range of other activities including fossil making and a dinosaur trail to win prizes.

A Dino Park will be located in Town Square complete with a Jurassic jeep, dino babies and all kinds of dinosaur species as well as a hatching dinosaur egg selfie station to capture the fun. For those feeling extremely brave, creepy crawlies will also be around to hold and touch in interactive sessions throughout the day.

Continue the fun with a visit to St Peters Square and spot the walking T-Rex. Families can grab a bite to eat from the Dinosaur Grill whilst enjoying a live show with popular children’s presenter, Andy Day, who will be joined on stage with the colourful Trolls. Visitors can also enjoy a range of popular fairground rides around Mersey Square including Fred Flinstone’s incredible stone wheeled ‘footmobile’.

Over at Redrock Stockport, there will be a Velociraptor on the loose and 10 goodie bags up for grabs every hour from 10am. Families can also catch the latest screening of the brand new film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom at The Light Cinema.

The event is taking place in conjunction with One Great Day – the UK wide annual charity fundraiser day in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital and other local children’s charities.

Centre Manager, Brendan Webb said “We’re really looking forward to collaborating with local businesses to create an event filled with exciting activity across Stockport town centre. With walking dinosaurs, a variety of workshops and interactive sessions taking place at Merseyway, this event includes something every family can enjoy and it’s all for a great cause”.

“With events taking place across the whole of Stockport town centre this will be a fantastic day out for dinosaur fans of any age! I’d encourage everyone to put the date in their diaries and head down to Stockport for an action packed day,” commented Councillor Kate Butler, Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration at Stockport Council.
