After weeks of rumour, the Stone Roses have confirmed that they are working on a new album.

In an exclusive announced by music magazine the New Musical Express, frontman Ian Brown  spoke  outside producer Paul Epworth’s north London recording facility The Church Studios to say that new music from the band would be coming “soon”.

He added, says the report, that the new material was sounding “glorious”.

The band, who are playing four nights this June at the Etihad stadium, had been the subject of constant rumour that they were preparing new material at the north London recording studios but members had claimed they were simply rehearsing for their summer dates.

The new album will be their first new songs since their 1994 album second coming.
