The Scottish Grand National is the biggest and most valuable horse race to occur in Scotland. The festival has £714,000 available in prize money to be distributed amongst winners. This year’s race will take place on Saturday 21st April at Ayr Racecourse.

The festival isn’t just about the racing though and there is some wonderful entertainment to be enjoyed before and after the races.

On Ladies Day, which this year comes on Friday April 20th there is the opportunity to watch Splash, the biggest show group Scotland has ever produced perform live at Ayr. Once racing finishes on the Friday they will perform in the Grandstand, taking on a whole host of 80s classics.

There are numerous other live performers not to be missed on Ladies day, such as MC Colin McArdle, who will be spinning the decks and keeping the party going once the racing has finished. In addition to music acts you can catch Stilt Walker and a talented unicyclist roaming through various areas of the festival, adding to the experience for guests.

The entertainment away from racing on the Saturday continues to be impressive for the main Grand National Day. Craig Ward from Ayr of the Voice fame will be performing the opening song of the day in the main stand. Guests will also be greeted by Oceans 3 at the entrance, who will provide nostalgia to guests through their wonderful music. For those than hang around after the racing has finished to continue to soak up the atmosphere, The White Band will be performing a 3 hour set in the Clubstand. This is somewhat of a coup for Ayr as they really are hot property on the Scottish scene right now.

The hospitality on offer at Ayr for the Scottish Grand National is very impressive with packages to suit all budgets offering the chance to enhance the experience of the day. There are three packages to choose from Silver, Gold and Platinum and all offer full choice menus and a comprehensive drinks selection, guaranteed to impress.

If you are competitive yourself the festival also has the perfect competition on offer. The exclusive Best Dressed Ladies Competition takes place of course on the famous Ladies Day. It’s worth making the effort and entering for all the ladies in attendance as there are some wonderful prizes on offer.

First place offers the winner a three night break in Rome for two. Second place sees the runner up win a night out, complete with hospitality at Ayr Racecourse. Even third prize is worth winning, it is made up of a day out in Glasgow, including a make over and afternoon tea, perfect for any glamorous lady.

So, whilst the obvious main attraction of the Scottish Grand National Festival is of course the racing and the betting that is done on track as well as online at popular bookmakers like Betpoint. It would be shame if you didn’t make sure to checked out what else was on offer from live music to treatment fit for royalty in one of the private boxes available as part of a hospitality package.
