Staff at the Oddfellows’ central office in Manchester have been getting into the festive spirit by collecting donations of toys for local children’s charity, Wood Street Mission.

The Wood Street Mission Christmas Appeal provides help to local families who are struggling to make ends meet. Every year they collect new toys and gifts for children up to the age of 14 from generous donators within the Manchester community to ensure that every child has a memorable Christmas.

Helen Ahmed-Omar, who works for the Society and coordinated the donations, said: “This is the Oddfellows’ third year collecting for the Wood Street Mission appeal and we’re thrilled to be involved again. Anything we can do to bring a smile to a child’s face during the festive period to give local families a helping hand is fantastic.”

Jane Nelson, CEO of the Oddfellows, added: “It is amazing how a simple donation of toys that many of us take for granted, can make such an impact. This spirit of offering care and support in times of need is what the Oddfellows is all about and it is something that our organisation has been doing passionately for over 200 years. We wish Wood Street Mission every success with their Christmas appeal and hope the children have a wonderful time playing with their new toys over the holidays.”
