Life-size animal footprints are stomping through the town centre, popping into shops and cafes, creating a brightly coloured fun trail through Sale.

Today is the start of Community Group Two by Two’s exciting FREE event for all the children in Sale to enjoy. Sale Safari Footprint Trail is running until 31st August in Sale Town Centre and has been funded by Trafford Partnership’s Make Sale Smile campaign.

The elephant, hippo, lion, penguin and giraffe footprints lead children to five different local shops and cafés where Safari Trail-boxes are located. Children collect five stamps on their Trail Maps to enter a draw to win one of the hampers of gifts donated by Sale Traders.

Trail maps will be available to collect from participating stores; Meeks shoes, Bianco’s café, Traders Outlet, The Edge Hairdressers, Heart to Heart card shop and Bean and Brush Art Café.

As well as following the footprint trail, children will need to keep an eye out for fluttering butterflies along the trail route. The butterflies are lettered, spelling out a code activating a 2 for 1 offer on pocket money pottery in Bean and Brushes art café.

Two by Two is run by artists Anna Chopping and Zoe Taylor. Anna commented ‘The Sale Safari Footprint Trail was an idea we had to create a fun activity for families to enjoy during the holidays, as well as encouraging people into the town centre and to shops they might not have visited previously. We think the footprints animate the town, adding a bit of colour and fun, definitely putting a smile on people’s faces.’

Funding for the event came from Trafford Partnership’s Make Sale Smile campaign which invited residents or groups in Sale to bid for money for an event that would benefit groups of the community. £10,000 was made available in up to £500 awards to over 20 applicants, enabling them to hold events across Sale.
