Greater Manchester Police have today released details of a rape in Stockport at the weekend.

The women was approached by three men wearing dark clothing between 6:10am and 6:45am on Penny Lane, near Cymbal Court on Saturday (9th) morning and was raped.

An investigation has been launched and police are now appealing for information.

Detective Inspector Cheryl Hughes, of GMP’s Stockport borough, said: “This was a terrifying attack on a woman in the early hours of the morning.

“No one should feel unsafe or be taken advantage of in this way and specialist officers are looking after the victim and ensuring she has the support she needs.

“This kind of crime is shocking and I am urging anyone who may have information or was around Penny Lane at this time to contact the police. I am also appealing for anyone who assisted the victim to contact the police as you may hold important information.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 460 of 09/09/17, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

  1. “Three men wearing dark clothing”. Well that really narrows it down. Age? Ethnicity? This poor woman suffers an appalling crime, which will leave a deep mark on her for the rest of her life. I’m sure she would’ve got an idea of these details. Not PC to say it though is it? Pathetic.
