TEENAGERS will be taking over Manchester Central Library on Saturday, July 2, as part of this year’s Manchester Children’s Book Festival.
The free event will feature a day of performances, open mic MC-ing, animation, poetry slamming, graphic novels, quizzes, indoor pool, live music and more.

The #MCRTakeover also features a Wordsmith showcase with poet Chris Jam and author Alex Wheatle plus MC open mic sessions, three of today’s hottest YA authors, Siobhann Curran, Juno Dawsonand Non Pratt, discussing on mental health, and the launch of Curtis Jobling’s new Max Helsing: Monster Hunter series, described as “Percy Jackson meets Dracula”.

The event is presented in partnership between the Manchester Children’s Book Festival, Manchester Libraries and the Youth Libraries Group, with support from Greater Manchester Higher.

Entry to the takeover is free and visitors are welcome to drop in any time between noon and 4.30pm, although some performances and sessions have limited places and seats should be reserved via the website, mcbf.org.uk, to guarantee a place. Priority entry will be given to those who have pre-booked tickets.

The Manchester Children’s Book Festival is organised by Manchester Metropolitan University and runs from Thursday, June 16 to Saturday, July 2.

This year’s festival will also feature appearances from Rastamouse, Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre and Phoenix Comics.
