In a continued effort to end homelessness in Manchester, Street Support, the digital support hub has launched a month-long social media campaign, asking the public to stand up against homelessness by taking a picture of their #FeetOnTheStreet.
The organisation is encouraging people to visit www.streetsupport.net or download the new app to find out how to give help to those experiencing homelessness, and to use the power of social media to inform people that such resources exist.

Gary Dunstan, co-founder of Street Support, explains: “The thinking behind this idea is simple, but powerful – stand up to homelessness and raise awareness of this issue by taking a picture of your #FeetOnTheStreet and mention @StreetSupportUK.

“If we all take a couple of seconds out of our day just to tweet a picture, we can generate mass exposure for an issue that’s currently rife in Manchester and many other cities nationwide.

“With everybody’s help we can raise awareness of what we do at Street Support, and get more people giving help and donating what’s needed to will help to change the lives of those experiencing homelessness.”

According to Homeless Link, rough sleeping in Manchester has increased by 900 per cent since 2010.

Along with some 46 other charities and organisations in the region, Street Support is working to tackle this issue on a daily basis. By getting involved in the #FeetOnTheStreet campaign, it could help the organisations to provide crucial awareness and information on this issue.

Gary concludes: “We’ve already had such a positive response for the campaign so far, with colleagues, councillors, friends, families and pets putting their best feet forward to do good this Christmas.

“We’re urging the people of Manchester to do their part and tweet a picture of their #FeetOnTheStreet and generate much-needed awareness of homelessness in our great city.”

The Street Support website is a central online network for homelessness, to inform and connect all those who want to ‘Find Help’ or ‘Give Help’.

It also unites over 45 charities and voluntary groups that help those affected, making it easier for them to collaborate and coordinate, and offer better support to those who need it.
