A man had been stabbed outside McDonald’s Restaurant police say in the early hours of this morning.

The victim, in his 20s,is currently in hospital receiving treatment for four stab wounds to the top of his right leg.

His injuries are not thought to be life threatening at this time and enquiries to locate the offender are ongoing.

Detective Inspector Geoff Machent of GMP’s City of Manchester Division, said: “Our main priorities are ensuring the injured man receives the medical attention he needs and we find the person responsible for causing him harm.

“We are working to preserve as much evidence as we can this morning, which is why there is police tape outside the McDonald’s and why you will see officers around the area, speaking to witnesses and gathering CCTV.

“Our initial enquiries suggest that there may have been some sort of altercation prior to the man being stabbed – did you see this altercation? Or did you see or know something that will help us?

“You can speak to our dedicated detectives at any time or pass information to us anonymously.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 4409 quoting reference number 187 of 05/09/18 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
