The festive season is upon us and Salford Community Leisure has revealed a line-up of Christmas events for all the family to enjoy, from musical concerts and gingerbread decorating to Christmas ghost stories! 

Here are some of the highlights not to be missed:

 Ghost Stories for Christmas at Ordsall Hall

Friday 4 December (7:30pm), £10, £8 concessions

Enjoy a spine-chilling theatre performance in the haunted Tudor manor house. An evening of vengeful revenants, restless spirits and malevolent ghouls is in store for those brave enough to attend!

 Christmas Fair at Rainbow Rooms Community Centre

Saturday 5 December (11:30am – 2:30pm), 50p entry, £1 to visit Santa

Free bouncy castle with lots of craft stalls and festive fare. Father Christmas will also be making an appearance from 1pm on a festive fire engine! 

 MAPAS Marathon ‘Carolathon’ at ASDA, Swinton

Saturday 5 December (8am – 8pm), Free, donations welcome

Pupils from the MAPAS Arts Centre come together to raise much needed funds by playing Christmas Carols for 12 hours. Hosted by ASDA in Swinton, the pupils and tutors will be taking it in turns to get into the festive spirit and ensure there’s non-stop carols for the duration of the Carolathon.

 A Musical Christmas Celebration at Salford Museum & Art Gallery

Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December (12 – 4pm), Free, £4 to meet Santa

A whole weekend of musical entertainment and festive activities. Listen to choirs performing carols, meet Father Christmas in his grotto and take part in Christmas themed arts and crafts.

 Christmas Grotto at Ordsall Hall

Sunday 20 and Monday 21 December (1 – 4pm), £4 per child

Come and meet Father Christmas in his magical grotto and receive a gift! Ordsall Hall will be open for public tours.

 Christmas Extravaganza at Eccles Library

Tuesday 22 December (2 – 4pm), Free

Enjoy a fantastically festive line-up including Christmas storytime, an elves’ workshop where children can decorate their own gingerbread man, face painting, mince pies and special appearance from Olaf the snowman.

 If that isn’t enough festive cheer, special Christmas menus will be served at Salford Museum & Art Gallery from 14 until 18 December and at Ordsall Hall from now until 23 December. Here visitors can also pick up beautiful and unusual Christmas gifts, including handmade arts and crafts.
