Stockport is guaranteed a visit from Father Christmas this December, as Merseyway Shopping Centre hosts its first ever Igloo Grotto.

Featuring life size penguins, polar bears and glistening Christmas trees, children of all ages will be able to visit Father Christmas and receive an early Christmas present*, free of charge.

The Igloo Grotto will be located outside Specsavers and will be open every Saturday in December before Christmas Day from 11am – 2pm.

Merseyway’s popular Festive Huts are open until Monday 24th December selling all kinds of festive treats including Yorkshire pudding wraps, waffles, German sausages and burgers, grilled cheese toasties, fudge and chocolate, Christmas decorations, gifts, jewellery and crafted cards and posters. There’s also a Snow Globe Experience where families can snap photos and have fun in a giant snow globe.

There will also be a whole host of events taking place across the town centre on the run-up to Christmas, including an animatronic walking polar bear and an Ice Sculpture trail on selected dates – visit www.stockportchristmas.co.uk for more information.

Merseyway will be open for late night shopping from 9am – 8pm every Wednesday until Wednesday 12th December as well as Monday 17th – Friday 21st December 2018.

Brendan Webb, Merseyway Centre Manager said “We’re really excited to be hosting a Christmas Grotto in the centre this year. We know this is an expensive time of year which is why we’ve decided to make our grotto free for families to visit. During the Grotto’s opening hours, we will be collecting for our charity of the year, Independent Options Children and Family Centre in Hazel Grove, and would welcome donations for this fantastic cause which offers incredible support to local children and their families.”

Merseyway is also running a festive competition across its social media platforms – from Saturday 24th November, followers will be encouraged to name Stockport’s walking polar bear to be in with a chance of winning an exclusive one-to-one with the polar bear and early Christmas presents.
