Gothic romanticism and the bizarre nature of the Uncanny portrayed as an eerie, dystopian world of distant lands strewn with the strange ruins of failed civilisations.

A new exhibition RELICS: a new solo exhibition by Cheshire based artist David Lunt comes to the Portico Library on Mosley Street, bringing work from the artist’s collection together with his latest project, as yet unseen by the public.

Lunt, who says his artwork is primarily about conflict in many forms and what it is that fuels the contemporary artist in the digital age, studied at Loughborough University and his work has been shown nationally at venues throughout the UK.

His newest works on show at the Portico have taken the shape of black and white illustrative drawings inspired by his interest in Renaissance and Northern European religious art and reflect his interest in the golden age of exploration and the travellers tales such as Gulliver’s Travels and the works of Umberto Eco.The drawings are diary entries from such tales, lost in the annals of time.

The free exhibition runs from the 5th-28th February at The Portico Library, 57 Mosley Street, Manchester, M2 3HY

Opening Hrs: Mon to Fri 9:30am – 4:30pm, Thurs to 7:30pm, Sat 11:00am – 3:00pm
