A series of audiovisual events organised by a Salford University graduate will raise funds for homeless charity, The Booth Centre.

Nicole Lane set up the not for profit business Project: Trinity after she found her passion for music and acoustics at The University of Salford.

Since graduating, she has been selected to have a space at the Launch @SalfordUni incubator, which is supported by Salford Business School, the GC Business Growth Hub and Santander Universities UK. Here, she has access to mentoring and masterclass sessions from a range of entrepreneurs.

The collaborative effort sees composers and performers write bespoke pieces for the event given only a theme; which is then passed down to visual artists, lighting technicians and dancers to create pieces of art around. The events then take place in Sacred Trinity Church in Manchester, a factor that is essential to Nicole.

She said:

“Churches were built for their acoustics, so having events like Project: Trinity in a church is really important, so that we can make the most of their amazing infrastructure.”

The first two events were focused on the themes of Homelessness and more recently, Nightmares, to tie in with the Halloween celebrations in the city, which saw Nicole distributing themes such as “Trick or Treat” to the musicians.

Nicole said:

“Launch @SalfordUni has really helped me build on my business skills. I came to launch as a creative, and didn’t have much knowledge on how to create a sustainable business. I now know much more about promoting, business plans and how to find the best people to work with.”

“I feel like Project: Trinity has so much room to grow. Composers have travelled from as far as Italy to be at the events, and I have so many ideas for future themes.”

Justyna Turner, Incubation Manager who runs Launch @SalfordUni said:

“Nicole is working on a brilliant project which brings together many students, performers and musicians and gives them a platform to showcase their creative talents. She has fully engaged with the support programme and is using the valuable advice of our Business Growth Hub advisors and is developing her idea further. Her work on Project Trinity also supports local charities and she is on the right track to grow a business that works and creates amazing value.”
