Police investigating the rape of a 27 year old woman in the city centre earlier this month want to speak to two men in connection with the incident.

The woman had been raped during the early hours of Saturday the 18th of November but at the moment, it’s not clear where this took place.

Officers are looking at a time period of between 12.20am and 4.30am to establish exactly what happened and the events leading up to the incident.

CCTV enquiries have led officers to two men they want to speak to in connection with the investigation and anyone who recognises them is urged to come forward.

Detective Constable Paula Mannion of GMP’s Serious Sexual Offences Unit, said: “We’ve reached a point in the investigation where we’re unable to progress our enquiries without speaking to the two men we’ve identified.

“Although I’m not able to disclose specific details of the incident and the circumstances around it, I’m hoping that by releasing the pictures, people will be able to help us gain a fuller picture.

“The woman is being treated by specially trained officers however, we’re unable to provide her with the reassurance that we’ve found those responsible for this terrible crime.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 1911 quoting reference number 490 of 18/11/17 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
