Three women were assaulted and had their jewellery stolen during a burglary in Withington last night.

The two offenders entered the address on Parsonage Road,before threatening and punching three women who were in the property and stealing the jewellery they were wearing.

The offenders then fled the scene in a vehicle – possibly in a dark coloured vehicle – along Parsonage Road. The women – aged in their 60s and 70s – were treated at the scene for cuts and bruises.

Both offenders are described as around 25-years-old and spoke with local accents. They were wearing balaclavas and are both described as tall and slim.One of the offenders was wearing a maroon-coloured coat.

Chief Inspector Jim Ainscough of GMP’s City of Manchester Division said: “This was a shocking and cowardly act, where three innocent women were targeted in their own home.

“The type of person who would think nothing of assaulting members of our community for their own financial gain needs to be apprehended and brought to justice without delay.

“We have a team of detectives working on this incident and we’re appealing for the public to come forward with any information they have.

“Were you in the area at the time of the incident? Perhaps you saw a car matching that described.
