Six new posters have been unveiled Reddish South Station after the Friends of the Station organised a community poster project with local schoolchildren.

Six local schools were asked to make posters with the theme ‘Welcome to Reddish’ and the posters were unveiled on the station, as long term installations, by Andrew Gwynne MP and the Mayor Andy Verdeille with some help by two young volunteers.

The schools participating were St Mary’s C of E Primary, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary, St Elisabeth’s C of E Primary, Vale View Primary and Whitehill Primary, all schools in the ‘catchment’ of Reddish South station.

Each school will be presented with an exact copy plus a print of the entry chosen to go on the station.

The project was only able to go ahead due to the generous funding Heatons & Reddish Area Committee, the Association of Community Rail Partnerships (ACoRP), and Network Rail.

The Friends of Reddish South are campaigning hard to get this route opened up again for regular services by Transport for Greater Manchester with the backing of their local MP and local council. They have also completed a makeover of their station.
