People with sight loss in Manchester invited to attend two free workshops

Blind and partially sighted people in Manchester are invited to attend two free workshops in the city that could help them with finding employment and with their technology skills.

Action for Blind People will be holding an Extending the Reach workshop, followed by an Online Today technology session on Tuesday 22nd March 2016 at Action for Blind People Manchester, 5th Floor, Orbit House, Albert Street, Eccles, M30 0BL.

Extending the Reach will be taking place between 10am – 1pm, whilst Online Today will be held from 2pm – 4pm.

Anyone with sight and or hearing loss is welcome to attend both of the workshops for free.

People interested in attending Extending the Reach will be able to find out more about finding employment or volunteering opportunities, and advice will be given on how to complete application forms and interview skills.

The Online Today session is part of RNIB’s scheme to support 125,000 people with sensory loss to get online. The session will include how to get the most from products such as tablets, smartphones and eReaders. There will also be the chance to be hands-on and try out these gadgets and ask questions.

Mandy Owens from Action for Blind People Manchester, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people living in Manchester to find out how to seek employment or volunteering work and to also learn more about accessible technology and getting online.

“We hope people with sight or hearing loss in Manchester will come along and find out more about employment and technology that can open up a whole new world of independence and discovery.”
