Police have confirmed this morning that a 70 year old man has been killed in Manchester City Centre.

The accident happened around 5.00pm on Monday evening when blue Van Hool Astromega Coach was parked at Shudehill Interchange as passengers boarded the vehicle.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Police Constable Dermot Murray, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A man has sadly died following this tragic incident and our thoughts remain with his family at this awful time.

“We have launched an investigation and are working to establish the exact circumstances that led to the man colliding with the coach.

“It happened at a busy time of day and passengers were boarding the coach prior to this incident. I would appeal to anyone who may have seen the man entering the bus station or witnessed this incident to please get in touch.”
