A seventy nine year old women  who was injured in a collision in Heywood on Thursday morning has died.

The women was hit by a black Peugeot 107 which was driving along Bury New Road, in the direction of Bury.

The woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment where she sadly died on Friday night

The driver of the Peugeot did not sustain any injury but she was treated for shock at the scene.

Police are now appealing for information about the collision, which took place close to the junction with Whalley Road.

Police Constable Paul Hailwood of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “The woman involved in the collision in Heywood on Thursday has now sadly died. My thoughts remain with her family and we have specially trained officers supporting her family at this difficult time.

“We are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the collision and I would appeal to anyone who may have information to come forward.

“We are particularly interested to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have dash cam footage.

“If you witnessed the collision or you think you may have any information that could assist our investigation then I would urge you to please contact the SCIU.”
