A local woman from Wilmslow is hoping her passion for open water
swimming will stand her in good stead for the launch of her award-winning
progressive baby swim classes in the local area.

Judith Rucklidge (38) has purchased a license from nationwide baby swim franchise Turtle Tots with the aim of boosting vital water confidence and safety skills amongst tots in the area.

Diving headfirst into water might be daunting for some, but in her spare time, Judith’s real
comfort zone is in the open water, so working in the warmth and calmness of the
swimming pool will really be a drop in the ocean for her.

After a long 10 year career working in clinical research for the NHS, Judith found that
juggling her work alongside two young children and a passion for swimming in the
open water, was taking its toll and something had to give, she explains:

“I always loved swimming and I swam regularly as a child, but over the last five years
I’ve also discovered a love of swimming in open water, you could say swimming is in
my blood. But open water swimming is very different to diving into the comfort of a
warm and safe pool; it was a challenge and something I have gained lots of skills
from. I knew that I needed a career that was also challenging, flexible and
rewarding. Turtle Tots ticked all of those boxes for me.”

Judith is hoping her fun and friendly approach will entice parents and their little ones
into the pool.

She continued: “I will be offering safe, interactive and affordable classes with a
personal approach. Teaching babies life saving skills is so important as is a love of
water. We don’t want our children to be afraid of the water but we do want them to
be confident and safe when they are around it. That is exactly what open water
swimming has done for me, it’s also given me the opportunity to push myself and to
achieve new skills, which I know I can transfer to the pool.”

Judith’s interactive classes offer fun, structured swim sessions for babies and
toddlers in the region. Her classes are now running in the local area is the Marriott
Hotel in Hale Barns and she plans to expand further into the region as the numbers
for her sessions grow. Turtle Tots currently teaches more than 10,000 babies to
swim every week across the UK, in a relaxed and fun environment.

Judith will also be donating a portion of her revenue to the Children’s Adventure
Farm Trust in Altringham www.caft.co.uk

Caroline Sparks, Commercial Director of Turtle Tots Ltd commented on the launch of
Turtle Tots Cheshire and South Manchester: “Judith has really inspired us with her
passion for the water and her ambition for her business. She reflects everything that
is important to our brand and we know her classes will offer that personal touch
which is friendly, welcoming and down to earth. We are looking forward to seeing her
business thrive and grow in the region.”
