Three new Chief Superintendents will be taking over on Greater Manchester’s divisions from today.

Chief Superintendents Neil Evans and Wayne Miller were both promoted, Chief Superintendent Stuart Ellison is moving from a role in GMP’s Operational Communications Branch and Chief Superintendent Wasim Chaudhry’s role was made permanent at the end of 2016, all of who have served with the Force for a number of years.

Each senior officer will hold responsibility for the policing teams in their area, overseeing a number of divisions within close geographical proximity to ensure the policing service provided is as efficient as possible.
Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said: “All of the colleagues taking up posts today are very experienced Police Leaders who are committed to working with their local policing teams, local people, partner agencies and the voluntary sector to ensure we can continue to deliver really effective policing to the people of Greater Manchester.

“They will all bring energy and commitment to ensuring GMP tackles the issues that cause the biggest threat and harm to our communities, therefore helping to keep people safe.”

The four senior officers will oversee teams in the following areas:

· Chief Superintendent Wasim Chaudhry – City of Manchester

· Chief Superintendent Stuart Ellison – Bolton, Bury and Wigan

· Chief Superintendent Neil Evans – Rochdale, Oldham and Tameside

· Chief Superintendent Wayne Miller – Stockport, Trafford, Salford
