Wigan Athletic kick-off their Championship campaign at the DW Stadium against Sheffield Wednesday whilst their first away game sees Paul Cook’s side head to Aston Villa, following the announcement of the EFL’s fixture programme .

Following theirr Carabao Cup First Round match at Rotherham United, they will then return to the DW to host Nottingham Forest on Saturday 18 August before closing the opening month of the season out with trips to Stoke City (Wed 22, 7.45pm) and Queens Park Rangers (Aug 25, 3pm).

Bolton Wanderers are set to travel to relegated West Bromwich Albion on the opening weekend of the new campaign, the following weekend they entertain Bristol City before travelling to Reading, finishing the first month with two home games against Birmingham and Sheffield United.

Rochdale begin their  campaign with a trip to the Pirelli Stadium to face relegated Burton Albion on the opening day of the season, before welcoming Peterborough United to the Crown Oil Arena the following weekend.

It is then a relatively short trip to Fleetwood Town’s Highbury Stadium on Saturday 18th August, before Dale round off the month with back-to-back home games. Barnsley are the visitors on Tuesday 21st August and Dale welcome Walsall the following Saturday.

Bury will start life in the bottom tier with a home game against Yeovil Town.

Ryan Lowe’s side will take on the Glovers in the opening game of the season at The Energy Check Stadium at Gigg Lane.

After that, they will play MK Dons away, Forest Green Rovers at home, Lincoln City away and Crawley Town away.

Oldham, also relegated last season, begin at home to to MK Dons, who also came down with them from Division One.

Their first away game of the season sees Frankie Bunn take his side to the New Lawn to face Forest Green Rovers on Saturday, August 11 and then entertain newly promoted Macclesfield Town on Saturday, August 18.
