An app which helps users discover the coolest, most talked-about local events has today launched in Manchester, as part of its roll-out across 50 new cities before Christmas – following great success in London, Paris, New York and Tel Aviv.

WINGiT, the free urban travel app, screens social media sites and feeds users all the coolest events and activities happening in Manchester, based on what local insiders are posting on social media sites – from concerts to theatre to happy hours.

The app has released a brand new version which includes a fluid user experience, new branding through collaboration with Parisian artist Marie-Laure Cruschi, and major improvements to the unique algorithm that enables last-minute, one-click ticket booking, through its partnerships with Ticketmaster and Eventim.

The French start-up, which has raised €3million in investment so far, partnered with Uber earlier this year allowing users to book rides to and from their events.

WINGiT aims to disrupt the current market as the go-to app for people travelling in new cities, encouraging spontaneity and helping them embrace their surroundings by providing a solution to the question, ‘what do we do now?’, through geo-localisation and an up-to-date feed of compelling real-time recommendations based on the user’s preferences.

Alban Sayag, CEO of WINGiT, said: “We’re very excited to bring WINGiT to Manchester and encourage locals to be spontaneous and try new events & pastimes. Manchester is an incredible city with so much going on, day and night, so we hope that through the app, Mancunians can embrace their city – because we only suggest events that are being talked about on social media, you’ll never show up to an empty bar again!”
WINGiT is available free on iOS and Android.
