Following the recent release of their critically acclaimed new album ‘Darker Days’, Swedish trio Peter Bjorn and John have announced a European Tour for March 2019, including dates in Manchester

For ‘Darker Days’ Peter Bjorn and John decided to strip things back to a simpler time where it was just the three of them, playing music together and releasing albums every other year.

The 11 songs on the album reflect this move, showcasing each member’s unique songwriting style while sounding resolutely like a band that has played together for nearly 20 years.

The trio simultaneously released three singles from the album, each of which reflects their personal style. Peter went into “One For The Team” with his love for old-school soul music and girl group’s vocal style, while Bjorn’s “Gut Feeling” is riff driven drum-oriented pop music that he said, ”we haven’t really done since PBJ favourites like ’Second Chance’ and ’Young Folks.’” And John’s “Every Other Night” drew influences from his indie-pop/rock-heroes for a track “about what’s keeping you awake between the midnight hour and the hour of the wolf.”

Continuing with the theme, Peter Bjorn and John premiered the first ever 3-in-1 music video, an interactive clip which allows the viewer to watch three videos at once or select which video they’d like to watch. For the unique project, the band worked with long-time visual collaborator Ted Malmros from the Shout Out Louds who has also directed videos for his band, First Aid Kit, Kygo and Lykke Li among others.

Formed in Stockholm in 1999, Peter Bjorn and John are perhaps best known for their timeless 2006 hit ‘Young Folks’. The track was recently included in Rolling Stone’s ‘100 Greatest Songs Of The Century So Far’ and has racked up over 130m Spotify streams. The track has also been the subject of a How We Made feature in The Guardian. Alongside fellow Swedish musicians including Lykke Li and Miike Snow, in 2012 the trio launched the artist collective and record label INGRID, which has a studio and office in Stockholm.
