Fifty of Manchester’s finest examples of twentieth century are being celebrated by the Manchester Modernist society in a map which can be explored on foot or by the City Centre’s free Metro shuttle bus.

The buildings, ranging from the Art Deco design of the former Daily Express building in Ancoats to the International style of the CIS tower through to the Scandinavian Modernism of Oxford Road train station and the brutal megastructures of Piccadilly Plaza are all contained within the guide.

For more information on where you can pick the guide up for free and on the Manchester Modernist Society see www.manchestermodernistsociety.org

In the coming weeks, About Manchester will be taking a closer look at the buildings
