Police are appealing for witnesses after masked men with Samurai swords committed robberies in Salford
The incident happened around 11pm on Sunday 9 April 2017, when three men brandishing weapons burst into the Henry Boddington’s pub on Bolton Road in SwintoOne man, armed with a samurai sword, ordered the manager to empty the contents of the safe into a bag. The two other men stood in the bar area ushering staff and customers. All three men wore face coverings and gloves and escaped with cash.
Two of the men fled across large car park towards Bolton Road and the other may have escaped over wasteland towards Agecroft Road.
The first man is described as being white, of slim build, and was wearing light blue clothes and a balaclava. He spoke with a Manchester accent.
The second man is described as being of stocky build, and was wearing a balaclava, a bandana face covering, and light blue clothes.
Police keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a group of men behaving suspiciously in the area shortly before the robbery.
The second happened at 11.50pm at Worsley Old Hall on Walkden Road in Worsley. Two men, one armed with a Samurai sword and one with a crowbar, burst into the hall and one ordered the manager to empty the contents of the safe into a large black Nike holdall.
They escaped with cash. It is believed there may have been a third man waiting outside and all three fled over the golf course.
Police believe the robberies are linked and are appealing to anyone with information to get in touch.
Detective Constable Derek Nellany of GMP’s Salford Borough said: “Fortunately, no-one was hurt in either robbery but staff suffered tremendous shock and psychological trauma after being threatened by masked men with Samurai swords.
