A three day event starting later this week aims to celebrate Manchester Secret places and buildings to the public with the aim of increasing engagement in architecture.

Manchester Curious runs from the 2nd-4th October in association with RIBA and Manchester Architects.

By encouraging exploration of the incredible places and spaces that Manchester has to offer, the festival hopes to make the architecture of the city more accessible to all.
Manchester Curious will be running walking tours and talks to highlight the value of the architecture around us.

Locations confirmed include Chetham’s School of Music, Warehouse Project, Old Granada Studios and No 2 St Peter’s Square.

Founder Lisa Raynes explains the reasons for the festival’s creation, ‘Architecture is an art form you engage with on a daily basis but we don’t always give it the attention it deserves. There is also a perception that architecture is for ‘them’ as opposed to ‘for everyone’ and this festival hopes to democratize this art form and break down barriers between the professional and wider audience.

Manchester Curious runs in partnership with Mustard Tree, a charity which creates choice and opportunity for people who are homeless and marginalised.

The event is being sponsored by Mills and Reeves, Feilden Clegg Bradley Studio, BDP and Civic Engineers.
Access to events is by way of tickets available via the website www.manchestercurious.com. A full schedule of events is available online.
