A 56 year old man has died after the car he was driving crashed into a wall early this morning in Bury.

The Vauxhall Astra hit the wall on Bolton Road West just after 6.00am

A Vauxhall Astra Club had been travelling southwest on Bolton Road West towards Holcombe Brook in Bury.

As the car reached the junction with Longsight Road, it was involved in a collision with a stone wall.

The driver sustained serious injuries and sadly died at the scene.

Detective Constable Diana Dyer-Barron of GMP’s Serious Collision Unit, said: “My thoughts are with the man’s family at this very difficult time, who are being looked after by specially trained officers.

“The man was driving from Ramsbottom, so people on their commute may have seen this car as it travelled towards Bury.

“We’re asking for anyone who saw the car, or who has dash-cam footage from around the time the collision happened, to please share it with us.”
