Liverpool’s Albert Dock is to undergo a facelift in efforts to attract more visitors.
The waterfront attraction welcomed 6.3 million people last year but owners Aberdeen Asset Management are keen to improve upon that figure.

Bosses of the Grade I listed buildings are aiming to improve the Dock’s local engagement, with residents rarely attending unless events are being held.

Shop fronts will be renovated for the first time in 20 years to include double-height windows that will offer better natural light and unrestricted views.

The success of the Leather Satchel Company’s recent pop-up shop is also hoped to lead to a diverse range of local businesses joining the current parade of shops.

Richard Wilson, of Aberdeen Asset Management, said: “We want to create a new vision of the future of the retail and leisure offer for this one of a kind destination.

“We are really pleased with the direction of travel and will be introducing the scheme to planners and to the market in the next few weeks.

“We are working with existing tenants to reconfigure some of the smaller units and create interesting spaces for fledgling businesses to grow.”
