Organisers behind the famous Manchester Ship Canal cruises are urging would-be passengers to book now as there are only a limited number of tickets left for the remaining 2017 cruises.

More than 16,000 people have taken the popular Mersey Ferries’ cruise already in 2017, which offers a completely unique journey through North West history, passing through locks and under bridges, largely unchanged, since they were built over 100 years ago.

The 6 hour cruise takes in spectacular scenery leaving passengers with an awe-inspiring sense of how the canal’s construction shaped the city of Manchester and the North West of England.  A fascinating live commentary on board the ferry tells the story of the canal and how it was built, primarily to help Manchester’s ailing cotton trade. However, in reality, the canal did more to boost engineering and became a focus for importers of food and raw materials which is clarified throughout the journey.

The cruises all include return transport by coach back to the original starting point.

Upcoming cruise dates are as follows:

Departing from Salford Quays

  • 6 October 2017
  • 10 October 2017

Departing from Seacombe/ Liverpool

  • 5 October 2017
  • 09 October 2017

A licensed bar and servery are available on board, selling refreshments and snacks throughout the cruise. Tickets are £42 per person and can be booked online or over the phone on 0151 330 1003.
