Sale has been named as the fourth most desirable place in which to live in England.

Research conducted by Economists Centre for Business Reseach for the Royal Mail considered factors such as schools, parks and common working hours over two years.

The town of Bebbington on the Wirral came top in a list that also included Norwich,Bournemouth and East Cowes on the Isle of Wight

A statement from Trafford Council said:

While this accolade may be news to some, this green, attractive part of Trafford is known by many to offer great housing, schools, green spaces and fantastic transport links. Couple these with good employment prospects and work/life balance and the reasons for this national recognition become clear.

Trafford Council Leader, Cllr Sean Anstee, welcomed this latest study, saying: “As a council we are committed to ensuring our towns provide the best possible environments and opportunities for local people, businesses and visitors alike.

Sale, with its thriving town centre, nationally renowned Waterside Arts Centre, attractive green spaces and the canal meandering through it, demonstrates admirably all that is great about Trafford. It is fantastic to see its desirability acknowledged nationally. To take fourth place and be the only Greater Manchester postcode to make this latest list, shows just what a great northern town it is.”
