A man who raped a girl at a party has been jailed for 40 months.

Nineteen year Connor Freeman  of Victoria Road, Dukinfield, pleaded guilty to the rape of a girl under 13, at an earlier hearing.

The court heard On Saturday 7 March 2015, Freeman was at a party at a house in Abbey Hey, where he met his victim, a girl who was 12-years-old at the time.

They had been in a bedroom together and it was there that Freeman raped her.

The girl initially confided in a friend, then told her mum and it was reported to police, who launched an investigation and arrested Freeman.

Detective Constable Rochelle Evans of the Phoenix Team in Tameside said; “Child sexual exploitation takes place in many forms. In this case the victim was raped by Freeman, who paid no heed to the fact that she was only 12-years-old at the time.

“I want to commend the girl for her bravery in reporting what happened to her and helping to stop Freeman from preying on any more girls.”

Freeman has also been placed on a Sexual Harm Prevention Order indefinitely.
