Three people are said to be unaccounted for following a flat fire in the early hours of this morning on Buxton Road, Stockport.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus have been tackling the fire in a first and second floor flat to prevent the fire from spreading.

It took firefighters around 40 minutes to take control of the fire and they wil remain at the scene to ensure that it is fully extinguished and the area is safe.

the A6 Buxton Road near to the Kennerley Road/Alma Hotel area was closed for a time but has now reopened but there is heavy congestion at the scene.
Firefighters remain at the scene damping down and ensuring the building is safe.

Fire investigators will be working closely with Greater Manchester Police to establish the cause of the fire.
