Great Britain’s best sausages, award winning cheese, the finest malt whisky in the world and amazing burgers are just some of the highlights of Bolton Food and Drink Festival.
More than 180 food, drink and craft traders will take over the town centre for the festival, which takes place from August 26 to 29.
The market, opening daily from 10am, will be located on Victoria Square, Newport Street, Oxford Street, Deansgate, Market Street, Corporation Street and Le Mans Crescent.
Well-known and well-loved restaurant Almost Famous will bring its Wondertruck to the festival for the first time, selling delicious burgers in the open-air on Le Mans Crescent.
Le Mans Crescent – which is home to a new Children’s Zone – will also play host to hot doughnuts and candyfloss from The Pit Stop, delicious gluten-free cakes from Icky Sticky Cake co and Indian food from Bolton restaurant Spice Valley.
Some other highlights include Porcus Sausages, on Oxford Street, who have just been awarded the prestigious title of Britain’s best sausages in The Great British Food Awards 2016.
Bolton bakers Carrs Pasties can also be found on Oxford Street along with festival regulars Holdens Ice Cream.
New to the bar area on Oxford Street this year is festival sponsor Old Pulteney – which won The World’s Best Single Malt Whisky in the 2016 World Whiskies Awards. They will be joined by Johnny Cocktail, Retro shots, and Premium Drinks.
Ex-Corrie star Sean Wilson, will be selling his award winning Saddleworth cheeses on Victoria Square. Also try some tasty Italian food from Bolton favourite Franca’s and don’t miss event regular, the Garlic Farm also on the square.
Tasty burgers from What’s Your Beef – who are returning for the second time after proving a hit last year – will be available on Newport Street, along with Asian street food from Tampopo.
Bolton Art Circle’s marquee will be on Corporation Street, along with a range of traders selling arts and crafts.
Deansgate and Market Street will be host to some great street food including Mexican (La Casita), Thai (Two Sisters Thai Food) and Indian (Zouk).
Flower and White (formerly Little Round Cake Company) are back on Deansgate with their mountainous meringues and Tweeners – individual layered cakes.
To wash all the food down, pay a visit to the award-winning KRO bar’s beer and cider marquee on Deansgate. Market Place Europe will also be bringing their popular continental traders, and a pop-up Beer Garden and a Prosecco Bar on Victoria Square.
Both Kro bar and Victoria Square will host live music daily with performances from top local musicians, and a variety of street entertainers will performer throughout the site each day.
The festival is organised by the council in association with Aldi. Leader of Bolton Council, Cllr Cliff Morris, said: “The range and quality of our many traders for this year’s festival is incredible. I am sure that there is something for everyone, whatever your taste, over the bank holiday weekend. I am also delighted to welcome new traders to our fantastic festival.
“Free parking is also available in the NCP multi-storey car parks over the weekend and Bank Holiday Monday.”
